Too late for Cork Marathon?

I'm up to 13 miles with my running and was considering doing my 1st marathon in June. I want to run it in under 3:30 mins though. I ran 16 miles 3 weeks ago but let my running slip until this week. I run 3 times a week, two 5 or 7 milers during the week with a long run on sunday.

Would it be possible at this late stage to be ready?

    Any advice appreciated, Thanks

Bearing in mind that we are 5 weeks out it would mean you would have 2 weeks of training and then a race taper. A proper build up takes a few months of consistant training. You would probably best to do the half in Cork and then build up for Dublin as you are better off to do it right. So in summary - Yes :)

Yes, it would be possible to run a marathon in 5 weeks time if you get a couple of longs runs in, somewhere close to 20 miles. Maybe 18 this week and 20 next. I would agree with ROM that the half would be a better choice....and I would guess a more enjoyable experience.
Im not sure how realistic your target of 3:30 is either, you may be putting yourself under a lot of pressure if your training hasnt been as you would have liked. I would have a plan B for race day just in case.

Yes you can do the marathon. however it will hurt alot, you more than likely wont hit your target, you have a high chance of getting injured and it probably wont be much fun.

I agree with Rom and EauRouge use the half in cork as a stepping stone to a good Dublin Marathon

You don't need a 4 week taper as 12 week program would give u 2 weeks taper.

But even at that, you dont have any consistent mileage behind you or time to get the long runs in.. So i would give it a miss and maybe get into the relay part for this year.

I'll sign up for the half for Cork and aim for a 90 min time.

That goal should keep me on track for a sub 3.5 marathon time for Dublin.

    Thanks guys

IF you can do 90 mins in Cork you should be closer to 3:15 in Dublin
    Best of luck
