What loading shovel is recognised as bullet proof around the farm and yard and what have you to lookout for when buying one besides the engine?

Who has good reliable machinery stock ..... & are they any good for loading turf off a peat/clay surface with the right bucket...?

    cheers for replys.

there are a few people in the country who specialise in them

    kingswood plant sales kildare
dermot clancy plant sales in kerry
    voltac in aughnacloy co tyrone
    mcsharry bros in roscommon

your obviously looking for an SH machine,

loading turf on a soft surface not ideal as they are v v heavy, need big big tyres and you will be fine

    things to look out for

    oil leaks
wear in loader pins and joints
wear in the steering pins- shake the steering rams as hard as you can they should not move

they should all be able to spin the wheels when pushing against a wall, if they can't run away, it means transmission problems

ill think of more things im sure

You don't need to push any walls. Just put it into a high gear drive across yard at a reasonable pace keeping your foot on the throttle and press the brake hard, the engine revs should drop substantially and she should slow down. If the revs stay high and the speed drops you have trasmission probs as the brakes are not putting a load on the engine.
