How well do Memory sticks work on Xoro 9000 Combo reciever?

I have a Xoro 9000 combo reciever. I would like to record programmes and play them back. I have already seen this tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2aba3KQuNc. I know there are bigger style USB's but would memory stick work just as good as the bigger USB's or the is it better to get a USB cable?
