Fire on New Street in #Waterford City

3 units of Waterford Fire Brigade are attending a blaze in the New Street area of the city. It's thought a building behind the houses on New Street went on fire shortly before 9am this morning. The houses close to fire are not currently occupied and there are no reports of injuries. New Street has now been completely closed off to all traffic and pedestrians.

Yeah, Waterford City Council tweeted about it there a couple of hours ago too - some streets are cordoned off.

    Update:

    http://www.waterford-news.ie/2013/04/30/fire-causes-street-closure/

NEW Street, in the city centre, was closed to traffic for nearly four hours on Sunday morning as four units of the Waterford City fire service fought a blaze at the former Kiely’s Bottling Store.
The alarm was raised at 9.01am by a passer by. When the fire service arrived the blaze had caught hold at the 3,000sqft unoccupied building. Fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus were committed to the site and with assistance from a hydraulic platform used to pump water in the fire was finally brought under control at 12.30pm and no damage was caused to any adjoining properties.
