Looking for a phone on three bill pay for the girlfriend. The s3 is just too big for her hands (I have the s3) so I am looking for the next best phone to the s3 that is smaller that three offer? I am provisionally looking at the s3 mini.

    Thanks for any advice.

Why does it have to be on billpay? If she is coming to the end of her contract, get her a G300, top up by €20 and enjoy the savings. I certianly wouldn't recommend renewing a contract for a mid range phone. Or if she wants premium, Nexus 4.

How is a G300 the next best phone to the SIII?

On the 3 site something like a iPhone 5 is a lot smaller in the hand than a SIII.

It's not. But he was provisionally looking at the S3 mini, which isn't either. He hasn't told us what his girl needs from a phone, and I'm going out on a limb in thinking a G300 will suit her fine.

The name of the SIII mini is confusing it sounds like a smaller SIII when it isn't. It is however a nice mid ranged phone, not to big in the hand and decent specs. But you need to be buying it 250 or less without a contract for it to be a reasonable price.

The G300 is a old model, low budget phone. Its a completely at the other end of the market, and AFAIK 3 don't sell it. If you were to go with a budget phone and unlock it, I would be going for the G510 or Ace 2 but both are a long way from the spec of SIII.

Motorola Razr i is well regarded. Here is a comparison between it and the Galaxy S3: [Link]

Available from Amazon.co.uk, Meteor and eMobile.

Bill pay options are available too.

I don't see how you can say the G300 is an old model and then recommend the Ace 2 which is just as old? If a budget phone is to be gotten it's hard to look past the G510. I'm recommending these are the G3 mini is a ridiculous price for what it is.

EDit: And the Razr i is a great phone!

My point about the G300 is that its been replaced by the G510 which is Dual core. The point point about the Ace2 is its dual core and a better quality camera and screen than a G300, its in a difference league quality and speed wise. Its on 2.3.6 and JB has started to be rolled out for it.

The G510, Ace2 and S3 mini are very similar phones. The mini being the best one. They are like a budget Samsung S2 II. If you can get a Samsung SII+ for a good price, (they were 250 on iBood) that would a good deal.

The other alternative is Windows Phones. Lots of choice there but 620, 720, 820 but none on 3 network. I don't think the HTC windows phones are as good a deal as they don't have thr nokia extra's.

Motorola Razr i not on the 3, but a nice phone, big screen in a small body too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKr14sO7FF0

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion so quickly. The only thing the mini has over the G510 is bigger internal storage and possibly better battery life. The G510 has a 1.2GHz Dual Core vs. the 1Ghz Dual Core, a bigger screen and is half the price. The only reason I didn't recommend it is because OP is not looking for a big screen.

The Acer phone above looks like a nice phone. Has a nice screen and camera. Dunno what it's like with updates etc.

The Nexus 4 is almost the exact same size as an s3 so I don't see why people are recommending that.

I recommend the RAZR i as mentioned above, very nice phone with good specs.

The g300 is still on android 2.3.6. The S3 mini would be your best bet. Have you looked at htc phones?

The G300 I had got an official ICS update on Vodafone. I had mine unlocked but the update still worked.

The G300 was great for the price but it wasn't the same quality as other brands IMO.

I've picked up a G510 but not spent anytime with it or used it. Don't know good it was.

The S3 has a front facing camera and the battery has better performance

I think the G300 is the only phone in this thread without a front camera.

TBH I've only used a front camera only a once or twice in my life. Might be more important for others though. I know some who use it a lot.

Don't see the big deal with front facing cameras
