Surprise surprise Audley gets stopped in round 1

Ogogo wins by second round stoppage.

Average amateur, who didn't have a particular style that would suit the pro game either.

His "win" over Evhen Khytrov in the summer was shameful stuff

Really not interested in khan anymore, his opponents are going to be hand picked now on from fighters with no knockout power. Have to make sure that glass chin of his doesent get tested again

Have to be honest, very boring night of boxing.

Harry Khan does the same "hold and hit" his brother does.

Audley was a massacre, poor man needs to just let go. Deontay is more of a scrapper than a boxer, it would be interesting to see him against a fast boxer able to get in under those wild swings.

Ogogo was okay, but first pro fight so it will be a while before we know what he will be like.

And Amir, well I am only watching this in hopes of watching him being beaten.

To be fair "average amateurs" don't win Olympic medals.

he is fighting the winners of a mini tournament between Garcia Vs Judah & Matthyse Vs Peterson at the end of the year
Garcia & especially Matthyse have power

He would have had an early exit had the Ukranian not been robbed

I'd rate Darren O'Neill as a superior amateur and i'm not a huge fan of O'Neill either.

Khan is so overrated, anyone that can punch will spark him.

I agree he got a gift decision there, but he still had to win his other fights in order to win an Olympic bronze medal.

Anyway, the point is, calling an Olympic medalist "average" is just factually incorrect.

    BANG get down Khan.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,430 ✭✭✭megadodge

Diaz is looking for (and landing) the overhand right over Khan's jab all the time. Khan better be careful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,351 ✭✭✭djhaxman

    Deja vu....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Come on Diaz end this overrated pricks career.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57,369 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Why isn't Hunter in the ring during rds? Khan looks strained turning to look and hear Hunter's advice. Ridiculous.

khan to win by knockout, hope i am wrong

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,430 ✭✭✭megadodge

Though it was a nice knockdown, Khan recovered very quickly, unlike before and Khan maintained his composure and boxed very well in the last round.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

    i hope Khan wins
don't get why he gets so much hate
he is a good fighter to watch

Deontay Wilder is an average fighter

Audley Harrison is an average fighter

I respect the achievement, but an average fighter can get the rub of the draw, gift decision's and an easier route.

dare I say it, Kenny Egan was never an elite level fighter in world terms and he won a silver. I'll get slaughtered, but Ogogo's medeal was left of field as was Kenny's.

Granted Kenny had more pedigree than Ogogo had in international competition.

I would have thought with you being a khan fan, you'd be happy that it isn't exciting??? Because exciting means he's getting hurt, while taking lots of risks.

It's a nice fight, but I guess I am so used to Khan being that bit more attacking and aggressive. He's boxing clever. He's in there taking the shots, not me!;)

    Tha's pure and utter nonsense.

Not alone do "average amateurs" not win Olympic medals, but they don't even win national titles or box for their countries.

By very definition 'average' is somewhere in the middle of all the thousands and thousands of participants out there.

Kenny Egan won 10 Irish titles, a European silver medal, EU titles and an Olympic silver medal. Boy, I wish I was "average".

Khan is still the same. An amateur trying desperately hard to box like a pro.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,787 ✭✭✭Jayob10

Khan has blinding speed, ok footwork but will never have enough power to earn the respect to keep the big boys off

Garcia and Mattheyse are inferior boxers but they will wait for their opportunity to land a bomb

Dear Lord if Diaz actually put an effort in he'd have Khan on the floor again. The commentators are hilarious, trying to talk up Diaz to make Khan seem better, but in reality, they are both useless!

The ref is so blind to Khan's holding, I feel like like I should sponsor him a guide dog!

Were the Khan brothers hugged as children? They seem to be fierce into holding other people!

Mattheyse and Garcia will KO khan look ho many shots Diaz has landed bang on his chin honestly khan will always be taking shots no matter how trains him or whatever any big hitter will spark him his career will be over if he faces Garcia or Mattheyse

Well he must be working as hard as a member of the seanad defence is feckin useless taking plenty of clean shots from a very ordinary fighter

you're being pedantic, average in the world level sense.

Not judging him by the average man.

Khan's biggest problem is that he has no semblance of a natural defence. It's a bit of this and a bit of that. Sure, that can work, but it's very risky.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

    Khan ****ing holding joke.

Khan has to have lost that. Can't believe it, How bad he was.
