Received word that Tony Byrne passed away earlier today, bronze medal winner for Ireland at the 1956 Olympics. To the best of my knowledge he will be buried in Drogheda per his wishes.

A great character, he will be missed.

Rest in peace tony. I knew socks and his wife Honor from my time in Canada. My parents moved out to Edmonton at the same time and have remained friends since.
Thoughts and prayers with the family he leaves behind.
