Correct tyre size for new model Opel Astra

My sister on law has a new type Astra with 16" steel wheels. Was pricing tyres for her today. The car has r16/205/60 tyres on it. Guy in the tyre centre thought it was odd, he was expecting r16/205/55. I'm pretty sure the 60's are the original tyres (michelin energy savers). 55's are cheaper in general. Does anyone know…
