My dad came home with a Sky+HD - DRX890. He bought it in some market.
He has a satellite dish outside. We are trying to connect them up. The box has no viewing card.

The box is not getting a satellite signal.

Can these boxes be used to get free TV without the need to sign up to sky? I've read threads about a card that can be got.

This has probably been asked many many times before.

Just need some help on this

    Thanks

yes, you can use it with no card, and you can get a freesat card(£20.00) that will get a few other channels but so many are free now a lot of people dont bother.

that box has inputs for 2 cables, ie lnb1 and lnb2. so make sure its connected to lnb1 and even then you may have to go to a services menu to set it for single feed. if you have 2 feeds from the dish then it should work out of the box. how old is the sky dish? and have you checked the cables? and was the dish working ok on another box.

post back if stuck or post back anyway when your sorted.

but that box is quite new so if bought in a market how much did he pay? ie too cheap and its probably broke

Hi, Just thought I would point out that if are only using one cable from your dish you need to connect it to input LNB 2 otherwise you will not receive anything
