hey, over the last few years ive been let go from work only to be taken back on some months later , basically i collected the dole for several weeks while also getting paid . .
twice ive done this now . but each time the dole office never cop on ive been overpaid . maybe to the tune of 1k.
Ive also overpaid tax the last few years and at the moment on emergency tax . So .... my question is if i apply for my tax back will the revenue office notice my dole payment's . ??

You will get caught eventually, and then they will apply fines and interest.

I never understand people committing to crimes on boards, people have this false sense of anonymity over the Internet

Do you really think they would trace his IP etc?

It's a complete joke in the first place that this kind of fraud does not immediately show up on the system. Paying prsi -> stamps -> dole.

Not in real time. But they do run simple data analysis checks now. Probably needs to be done offline with data from both systems.

Or so I have been hearing...

As anyone that works in IT can tell you, this is trivial stuff.

...for the weeks/days that you were out??

This is known technically as "garden leave" rather than being "let go".

Technically if you could have been called back into work at short notice and were not available for other work at any particular time then you should not have got the JB.

I know there are also disqualifcation periods at the start of each episode of unemployment (claims) which apply in cases of redundancy or quitting.

Such situations would be difficult to police or prove with people on salaries or paid fees, any which way no definitive link could be made to work done at a particular time period, in such cases hourly paid wage earners are not able to expoit this anomoly.
