Painting plates?

    Hi everyone

I have an idea in mind for a wall decoration that involves painting on some old plates. I've tried googling to find out some information about how I'd go about this but any of the results I get are for painting food-safe plates. As these are just for decoration, that isn't a concern of mine :) So basically I want to know what kind of supplies I'd need. Would I need to get ceramic paint or would acrylic be okay? If I do need ceramic paint, where would be the best place to get it? (I'm based in Dublin and can also buy online) Sorry, I'm a bit clueless when it comes to art but I'd really like to try out this idea I have. Thanks :)
