    http://www.independent.ie/world-news/israel-approves-open-skies-deal-29211082.html

Much to the opposition of El Al and the unions, Israels right wing government has pushed through with joining the EU's open skies agreement. A rare good decision from the Israeli authorities, IMHO

Ryanair are expected to start TLV flights soon, stemming from this. Does anyone see Ryanair operating to TLV from STN or DUB? Or are the sector lengths just too long for MOL's liking?

DUB TLV screams a loss making route to me.

Much more likely coming out of one of the London Airports.

Flight time from TLV to DUB would be in the region of five hours so, long by Ryanairs standards but they have operated routes this long in the past

Got to be a market in London for it. Big Jewish community there.

Fair enough. Other LCC's offer routes to TLV from the . Easyjet operate from LTN and MAN, while Jet2 also operated from MAN but are dropping that service. Easyjet do tend to be more willing to operate longer sector lengths in general though, as in they have flights to Egypt even longer that TLV. Given North Londons large Jewish community though, STN would be a good bet I would imagine

I guess it all just comes to the sort of market. I guess it would be generally older people in this country who would prefer to travel to Israel, for obvious reasons (As regards pilgrimages etc.). Could EI operate a seasonal service to TLV?

London to Tel Aviv would be a good earner. However flying to Israel opens up a whole can of worms for Ryanair. Israeli governments and officials will be very strict on passengers/freight/safety etc. I cant see MOL being able to bully them.

I believe somebody pointed this out on boards already but I would not want to be the young up and coming Ryanair pilot who ends up having to overnight in Tel Aviv for a tech reason etc......you could most likely kiss your chances with the big boys out east goodbye unless you passport goes missing!

Ireland - Gaza/West Bank would probably work better...

Imagine a Ryanair jet being hi-jacked....

Hijackers "We want to go to Syria"
FR Cpt "We haven't enough fuel for that"
Hijackers "We want to go to Egypt"
FR Cpt "We haven't enough fuel for that"
Hijackers "OK just land in Tel Aviv"
FR Cpt "We haven't fuel for that either, how does Ankara suit you?"

Que hijackers giving up and sitting back down.

Passport office do offer second business passports, pretty much for this exact reason.

Out of DUB I could see perhaps a seasonal / 3 times a week schedule. However they could tap into other European markets quite profitably I would imagine. Their only issue would be jumping through the red tape and such. As mentioned O' Leary wouldn't want to waste his time trying to bully anyone in their own back yard in this instance.

Wow, only €130 return for a 5h15m flight 10-17 May.

I didn't think the low cost model would work so well for such long flights. That said taxes/fees are listed as €0.00 so of course that helps but shows what possible even on very long flights.

That said flying over five hours with ryanair would not be a nice experience.

Thats a lot of flight time for the money in fairness!

However, saw this on A.net. Ryanair are opening longer routes that this from Sweden to the Canaries

    http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/general_aviation/read.main/5751091/

Longest will be Stockholm Vasteras to TFS at 2682 miles. Quite a bit of time to be putting up with Ryanair trying to sell you stuff..
