    Got a P21 balancing statement for 2012.

SInce coming back from Australia in October I have returned to work.

They have taxed me at 20% on my €14,000 PAYE earnings for the year.

I was under the impression that the first €18,000 for PAYE were tax free???

Am I wrong on this, or have things changed recently?

You made 14 grand in 3 months? Well la-di-da mister well to do.

But seriously, maybe you don't accumulate tax credits when out of the country.

was doing 12 hour shifts six days a week to gather up some coin.

Not paid all that well. Just rang them, apparently they had not included my PAYE tax credit. She says you have to ask

Should be sorted now and get a few pence back.

    Thanks for the input.

For quick reference its currently €16500 you can earn in a tax year without paying PAYE. That's based on your using your personal tax credit of 1650 and paye credit of 1650.
USC is another deduction you may wish to familiarise yourself with.

Thanks, I had the personal one and not the PAYE one. Hopefully have both now

Got a bit back from the USC as well.
