Is there any difference between the two?

How many of you hold a different point of view/support a different team to your Da? Not many I reckon.

While football affects nobody in particular in any serious way, I think that people's upbringing and tribalism has a negative effect on modern society. Sinn Fein who seem to get an instant negative response from the vast majority of people on this forum have slowly began to win me over. Unfortunately I think that people will not vote for them due to family affiliations and it is holding this country back.

Is everyone so ingrained in their ways that they can't even comprehend moving away from their traditional viewpoint? I can see why people support the team they grew up with as a child but surely our future as a nation deserves more thought than football.

My dads in Fianna Fail, I was a ULA member up until a few months back. My dad hates soccer and doesn't follow any team, I support Man City. So my family doesn't fit with your theory. We both support Mayo, I'll give you that one.

And although there are a lot of people who stick with political ideals or parties for such close-minded reasons as what their parents thought, a lot of people who don't like Sinn Fein have valid reasons for their opinion.
