Just got a pair of shimano( 600?) vintage racing pedal s with permanent toe clips circa 1978 . Just want to kno if its possible to replace the bearings or are the pedals sealed units. Seems to be plastic/rubber seal at both ends . Don't want to end up in a heap of trouble and useless pedal s.!!

In theory it would have been fairly manageable two decades ago...today...well if you can get the spares ...probably simpler and maybe even cheaper just to replace .Sure pull them apart and see how bad the damage/wear is.

Is this any use to you?

Sounds like they are the same pedals as yours, and sounds like the bearings are serviceable, although if you deform the plastic caps they won't be the same again.

Ive done it, have the same pedals. easy enough

the new shimano pedals use smaller bearings and a more complicated set up. you can buy the axles with new bearings attached to them, otherwise its very difficult to do, the bearings are 1/32" and a mess to get in place
