Thinking about heading up there for sunset some night and was wondering can you just walk up to the ring fort sites or do you have to pay an admission and go on a tour etc..

Also it is a long walk from the little gift shop to the site??

No, it's free to walk up there, maybe a 5/10 minute walk, the hill is a bit steep so wear some suitable footwear

Lovely up there at sunset and as said its free. The shop is right beside the carpark minutes from the site and there is a cafe where you can get icecream.

Get a good sunny evening up there if you can... you can see for miles and miles all around!

It is a great spot for a picnic too.
