As I have a child seat mounted on a rear seat I had to remove the original head restraint.
Otherwise child seat don't fit properly and that's the procedure officially advised in child seat manual.

I'm having NCT tomorrow, and I wonder would this not cause a fail?
I looked through NCT manual and didn't find anything about head restraints, but maybe there is something and I just missed it.

Remove child seat and refit head rest?

    Shouldn't be a problem.

My Yaris had 3 headrests missing at the back when I did the NCT and it went through no bother ;)

Put it through, I doubt they will even mention it.
    It's a visual anyway.

I need child seat, as I need to take my child with me when going for NCT.

The child seat has to come out for the test anyway, so if you still have the headrest then there's no reason not to refit it?

No it doesn't need to come out. That's 100%.

I don't think it has to but if it is not fitted properly it will fail the nct

To be fair, considering some of the stories of NCT employee abilities, I'd prefer for them NOT to mess with the car seat that I have fitted and double, triple, and quadruple checked for correct fitting.

The child seat can stay but they will inspect it

For some reason I think you only need to have head restraints on front seats and they are not necessary on back seats....not sure where I got it from but I definitely heard it somewhere

Pass without a bother. He didn't mention anything about the child seat or head restraint. He just said that car is perfect.

However I'm not sure if he shouldn't fail for this, but when he was testing a car I realised (by looking through the window) that one out of two lamps for numberplate lighting is not working. He didn't mention anything, but I suppose this should be a fail.
BTW - I checked all the bulbs yesterday and all were working, so the bulb must have gone today.

no its not a fail , its only an advisory on number plate lights, normally a light tap on the lens gets them working and saves the bother of entering it on the report.
