    hi first excuse me if im in the wrong thread..
    let me explain.
    about 4 1/2 years ago i broke my wrist.. my right.
    2 years later i started to have morning stiffness, it got so bad that i couldn't turn around in bed, or lean without supporting myself as i couldn't bend etc. (not in my hand obviously!) my hand never really recovered after the break, eventhough it did get stronger after the cast was removed initially.
    the stiffness went, and it came back about 4 months ago now. my gp did arthritis blood tests back then also, (rheumatoid factor) but it was negative. rheumatoid arthritis runs in my family btw.
    recently i started noticing lumps under my skin near my both elbows, and in my index and middle fingers in my left hand, and my wrist in my left hand is also agonizing.. i can't use it for anything.. not even to open jars, bottles etc. my gp did the bloods again, although i'm waiting for the results. he thinks something arthritic is going on.. (in his own words).. but my question is really he did the rheumatoid factor bloods previously and they were negative, i read somewhere that not everyone who has r.a gets positive results on this blood test.. do u reckon i could have ra and not have a positive blood test? i'm so confused.. and in agony. i'm only 28 btw.. so confused.

    I'm honestly not trying to be funny, but if I thought I had arthritis the last people I'd be asking are a bunch of strangers on the internet. You need to go back to your doctor or ask for a second opinion if you're unhappy.

    Cant give medical advice on here Im afraid, so you will have to wait on your blood test results. I hope you get the all clear and please let us know how you get on!

    Look into your diet. Some food allergies and intolerances can cause stiff and/or inflamed joints.
    I'm not saying to abandon everything else and concentrate solely on this but you can use the time between doctors visits and test results to try this out; if you're serious about overcoming this problem then you'll approach it from every possible angle and improving your diet will only help no matter whether it's the cause of the joint problem or not

    I have ankylosing spondylitis which is a type of Rheumatoid Arthritis. There are many types of Rheumatoid Arthritis though and this sounds like one of them. I would go see a Rheumatologist. My GP told me I was grand and gave me some painkillers. After two years and a lot of doctors, I found out.

    Good Luck!
