worse than the Magdalene laundry

    Did you know that in America today, there are homes for troubled teen girls up and running that are far worse than the Irish Magdalene homes from 50 years ago ? here is a website for one of them www.mgga.us

    How is that worse than the laundries? I don't see beatings, sexual abuse and little hope of getting out listed on their website

    The laundries didn't put it on their sites either I don't think.

    Your Daughter may only be showing signs of Rebellion, disrespect, and resentment, but please consider 1 Samuel 15:23, "For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry..."

    It sounds absolutely bonkers, but "worse than the Magdalene Laundries"...I don't think so.

    Yeh but without knowing whether it and worse is happening there, it's not clear how the OP has come to the conclusion that it's "far worse" than the Laundries.

    It's not something I'd agree with whatsoever, but maybe it is just as it says on the tin: a place where "wayward" (and I know, some folks' idea of "wayward" is... not wayward) girls, as well as girls who genuinely have messed up lives, go to be taught to be better-behaved, via christian teachings. The state doesn't drag girls in there either.

    Those religious camps are fairly well known in America, especially the gay-to-straight re-training ones.

    Pretty daft stuff but worse than what went on in the Magdalene Laundries and the era they existed in? Come on...

    Dreadful place but I can't agree it's worse than the Magdalene Laundries either.

    One of the parts that really stood out for me was when the obese instructor is yelling at the kids that drinking and drug-taking are sins that will send you to hell because you are defying the Lord by abusing your body... scene cuts to her horsing into a McDonalds and large drink. :pac:
