Strange 'rattle' while on Turbo Trainer

    Hi

I am using my Turbo trainer these days and notice that there is a strange rattle coming from around the pedal area as I pedal. It seems that the bike might be 'straining' ....when I am off the bike and rotate the pedals there is no noise.

I have the front wheel up on an Argo catalogue - so the bike is level.

Just worried that I might do some damage if I do seek some advice on same..

    Any thoughts???

A rattle or a squeak? A squeak could be your cleats.

That'll be your death rattle as your turbo trainer slowly strangles your will to live. I suspect it's an inevitable consequence of using a turbo trainer.

More seriously though, it could be your bike moving within the trainer and the noise could be coming from where the trainer is struggling to keep a tight grip on your skewer/bike. My trainer creaks a little as a result of this.

Otherwise, the only sources of rattles that I can think of are ones that would arise when on the road too but might not be so noticeable there - the usual ones of tube valve rattling in the rim, a loose locknut on a tube valve rattling, something loose (e.g. a spoke nipple) trapped inside a rim, a loose spoke, a loose nut/bolt, etc.
