Just arrived home from work and I can hear what sounds like pipes banging against joists...not too sure if its my house or next doors. When its banging I put my ear to the rads and it doesn't seem to be my home. Is there a way to confirm that its not my house?

    Ask your neighbour.

Is your heating on , should only happen when heating is on.

Thanks, my heating is not on. As for the neighbours...not the most approachable people.
Even while lying in bed now o can still hear it....surely it has to be driving them mad.

Edit. Found out the problem. Neighbour got a stove fitted into their fireplace and the cowl that was fitted to the flue is loose and swinging like a flag hence the noise from around the chimney breast area.
