VRT Question

    Hi All,

I own a car on uk plates an 06 honda accord and live in Tyrone currently, I've been offered a job in New Zealand and will need to sell the car ASAP. I'm originaly from Wexford. I will finish my job in mid may and I will need my car up until I leave for NZ. I will be moving home to Wexford for the interim between emigrating and finishing work.

I'm just wondering whats the story with VRT? I will need to sell the car but will probably end up selling in Ireland. I assume I need to VRT it to sell it there? The online quote is telling me 1250 is that a solid figure or can it vary depending on the individual car? How long does the vrt process take?

Any info would be great I'm confused by the revenue site.

    Thanks folks!

It would be illegal to sell in Ireland, but theres plenty of people out there who are buying UK reg cars in Ireland.

By law, you are meant to change it over to Irish plates to sell it.

Maybe better to try to get rid in NI?

Probably, but I cant be without the car for that long when I'm at home in Wexford. Does the condition of the vehicle effect VRT? It was damaged slightly a couple weeks ago and needs a new bumper and a few things. I have it booked into a panel beater to fix it this week. Would I be better bringing it to the vrt center before I get it fixed?

Sorry no idea on that one. I'd say they will more than likely just take the value off the online VRT calculator.
