Just thought it would be interesting to see what people are currently driving, and what they would be driving if petrol and tax wasn't an issue..

    Im currently in a 320ci, but if I had a choice I'd be in a e46 m3.

Probably my current car, a 2.2 diesel Civic. Road tax up north is £120/yr.

If tax and petrol weren't issues then we'd all be cars similar to what the yanks drove in the 70s. Irish people (by and large) drive boring cars because of tax and petrol. Oh well, a man can dream about a more wasteful time.

If petrol was free I'd still drive my current car, a Dacia Logan MCV. 4.5l/100km. Leave as much fuel for the future generations as possible!

It wouldn't be a diesel civic that's for sure lol.

    I would have an E39 M5.

I think many of us would go for German stuff, much of what the yanks drove in the 70s are awful piles of sh1te.

What do you mean I can't play with the cool kids?!!!

Think of what the cars would be like without taxation on fuel (/emissions) and taxation on reg plates!

Performance, weight, handling, safety, looks and cost would be how they differentiate, a much better product would be produced.

Anything nice would be alot more expensive to buy thats for sure if the price of petrol and motor tax wasn't an issue for people

A beauty, The only thing I would say though is an m3 should have m3 alloys and a csl should have csl alloys..But really thats only splitting hairs

A CSL is an M3 ... Variant on the same model. Various subtle sported up bits but its an M3. Splitting hairs too much ;)

This should give trouble free motoring for a good few miles and years, so with tax and fuel looked after, then I'd be good to go!

But can your roof retract for those sunny days? :pac:

I'd give the M3 vert a rest for an E39 M5, and M6 if I feel like splashing out a small bit or save every bit of money I could have for a '67 Mustang Shelby GT500.

Surely the €160k+ price tag is more of a stumbling block than tax and fuel? :D

Could afford it either way but M6 mmm

Pretty much the only thing stopping me from buying a Skyline is the tax and running costs!

I'm taking it that if I didn't give a toss about fuel/tax than I must be in a position to purchase it! :) Sadly a dream though :(

Fuel and tax I've learned to live with.
It's the cost of parts that would scare me, I'd probably look at old AMG, M5s or RS6s

Id go for a Skyline GTR R34, dreamt of that since I was in school. Would be slightly impractical to own with the cost of petrol.

Otherwise I'd go for an E46 M3 like a lot of other people here :)

    I currently drive a Hyundai i30 CRDI ;)
