    Hi all,

Please kindly advise me. I have just received the form UP19 7/09 in the post asking if i was looking for work and evidences in this regard. I have been on a FAS college since October 2012, though its an e-college course but will boost my chances of getting a job once its completed. Because of this i have not been job hunting as i needed all concentrations. I was just wondering if i will be penalized for this because it says in the form that my payment will be affected if i do not reply within 14 days.

Any idea or advice will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks

You will need to take a trip around a few supermarkets and other companies and ask them do they have any job vacancies. If they don't, then ask them to sign and stamp a sheet of paper with their company stamp. You should try and get at least 6 of them signed and stamped from a few other places and that will be enough proof that you were looking for work.

If you do not do this then they can stop your payment. You have to prove to them that you are genuinely seeking work, and by getting a sheet of paper signed and stamped from a few different places will be grand. Don't leave it till the last minute.

Thanks zeeno but if i do that they will know i just initiated the steps because the date will show. Also i am into accounting and not looking for a job in supermarkets. I normally apply for jobs on the internet but the last time i did was in November and i have proofs but was thinking its been long.

It doesn't matter what job you want to be doing as you need proof that you are genuinely seeking work, it doesn't matter what date is on the sheet because if you have nothing to give them you will be cut-off JSA.

The social welfare are not messing around now as they are putting their foot down on people bigtime, so having this months date on the sheet is better than having nothing on it. Be warned they will cut you off if you do not provide proof of looking for work.

Just go into a few places and get the sheet signed AND stamped from any shop, business or whatever as that will be enough proof that you will need and you will be ok.

If you have e-mails, it doesn't matter how old they are as it is proof that you were looking for work so copy and print out those e-mails as well and send them in.. send as much as you can in to them.

I reckon you do it ASAP to cover yourself.

Send a few more e-mails as well and build them up over time.

Don't forget, you need to be genuinely seeking work and you should always have proof of this for when the social welfare contact you to send in documentation to them. At the moment, the social welfare are sending out letters asking everyone for proof of seeking work every couple of weeks now so keep applying for jobs and save all the letters and e-mails and stamps.
