I'm a new teacher teaching English in China, not sure if it belongs here or the teaching abroad forum but its more a general question.

I'm teaching a kindergarten class 3-5 and there is this boy who is causing me a bit of grief. the last class he just lay on the ground holding my leg, the kid can only be described as a little retarded, anyway I tried picking him up and sitting him back down but no he just ran and held onto my leg again, I even gave him a few kicks to the head as I shook my leg free 'accidentally' to no avail, so most the class was just dealing with that retard. i asked the Chinese teachers about him and they just laughed and said ah yeah that boy is a little slow.

Has anyone any ideas how I can manage the kid better?

I've tried giving the class sweets the week before but this boy didn't want one, he just looked at the wall the whole class which was grand because he wasn't annoying me, pity he can't do that every week, what I'm afraid of is that he'll act up next class.

    Please help!

why waste your time and make up such a thing. Presuming you are an adult you should stop doing retarded things with your time.

Perhaps you have comprehension difficulties so I'll keep this simple for you, I'm looking for advice about how to control a very non responsive child and not some smart arse comment.

If you have a problem understanding any of the words I've used please use a dictionary.
