I recently bought a house in need of total refurbishment. I am told that the LPT doesn't apply but I can't find an exemption code in the LPT guide that applies to my situation. The house is not habitable but plan to refurbish it over the next couple of years! Any help much appreciated!

I couldn't find that exemption to be honest. I know it applied to NPPR and Household Charge but don't see it with LPT.

Hi I am in same position but i was going to log on to revenue today and pay LPT(reluctantly)
I was not aware of any concession for an uninhabitable house.
Can i ask where you heard this??

    See Q2 in this guide.

If the building is not suitable as a dwelling, then no LPT applies.

    Part of that definition:

A “Residential Property” is any building (or part of a building) which is used as, or is suitable for use as,
    a residence...

It says "suitable for use", it doesn't say "fit for use". So a building that was designed and built to be a house as distinct from (say) a stable, must be suitable for use as a house. If it is in bad repair it may not be fit for use as a house but it can be made fit because the building is suitable.
