    Hi

I have been told that under the Electoral Act of 1992, it is not possible to do electronic voting. Is this true and if it is, where does it say that you can't?

It's a reasonable interpretation of (at least) section 88, which explicitly refers to "ballot papers".
    (1) The ballot of a voter at a Dáil election shall consist of a paper (in this Act referred to as a “ballot paper”) in the form specified in the Fourth Schedule.
That said, there was electronic voting in 2002 - I can't find an Electoral Act that explicitly overrides this section, so it's not inconceivable that the electronic voting that took place was, in fact, illegal.

Not to mention a ridiculously bad idea.
