    1. What is your budget? Max to spend on pc is €1500 excluding shipping and putting it together.

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Bit of light gaming (nothing major),video editing, graphics program's etc.

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? Wireless keyboard and mouse, speakers. Wireless card.

    5. Do you need a monitor? Not at the moment I have a 3D one already but might pick another later on in the year.

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? No,

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Yes but not sure if I will ever need it?

    8. How can you pay? Any method.

    9. When are you purchasing? Next month.

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? I will pay to get it assembled, don't have the time to put one together.

This may not feel like the typical gaming machine but I feel a custom pc will offer far more value than buying from a manufacturer online. I want it to be a good entertainment system without a brand name. Most important, I want to be able to run two good monitors at high settings when working with the machine so I want a graphics card(s) that will be good enough to handle this. I would like to have the option of being able to upgrade components in the future also.

    Any feedback welcome.

    Thank you.

What programs will you be using specifically and could you rank the uses of the pc by their main order of importance?

How heavy is the video editing? What size files would you be working on?

Bit of Autocad, ArcGIS programs, small bit of video editing nothing intense, casual game and program testing. Looking for just a decent machine too that I can future proof going down the line. I will get something a bit better than what I need, always better to have the extra spec.

I saw this on Amazon today that might do my needs might be overkill but I like it. Can you check it out and see, its a custom one assembled, just want a good all rounder, and I need it powerful enough to connect up two/three 24" hd monitors.

    For that money:

    Item|Price
    Gigabyte GA-X79-UD3, Intel X79, ATX, PCI-Express|€183.93
Intel Core i7-3930K Retail, ohne Kühler, LGA2011|€521.63
Nanoxia Deep Silence One Silver, ATX, ohne Netzteil|€93.59
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - Intel/AMD|€29.83
    16GB-Kit Corsair Vengeance schwarz PC3-12800U CL10-10-10-27|€107.57
    Samsung SSD 840 Pro 256GB SATA 6Gb/s|€199.90
    Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 Ti Windforce 2X, 2GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort|€256.80
    Super-Flower SF550P14XE Golden Green Pro 80plus gold|€77.31
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€1489.55

Whether you need X79 is up to you, but if you can leverage the two extra cores, it would beat the pants of a Z77 setup. You could certainly go cheaper with Z77 if you wanted.

Is the one in my link good value for money? It should be less than €1100 inc shipping. If I can upgrade the components as I go along, then I would prefer to pay less for PC that way or am I better off going with your speced machine do you reckon? How much of a difference is there between the two PCs besides the price? I wouldn't be two concerned if there was a small difference in performance, once I could upgrade parts on the cheaper PC down the line.

    Thanks

It's not really a good buy. The recommended one by Serephecus has much better components. the processor has 50% more processing power (which can be well put to use for the things you're doing). in addition, it can be overclocked, allowing you around 30% more on top of the additional cores.

You also get a 256GB SSD, a good one too. If you've never had one well, when you get one, you'll never go back. Standard HDDs are painful to use in comparison. The graphics card included is also a nice bit faster. The power supply is of a much higher quality too.

OK I will take the advice. I just want to have windows booting off my SSD and nothing else. HDDs can do me for now and can upgrade down the line. So I could put a good 64GB one in for Windows and that would do me for now. Can all things in Serephecus built be upgraded down the line, CPU, RAM, Graphics card?

How do I go about ordering this build from that German website that's always mentioned here. Must i actually select all these parts on the webpage and form a build out of it? I will pay to assemble it as I don't have the time to spend building one.

    Thanks.

Why would you deliberately go for such a small SSD? With a 256GB one you can run all your programs off it and give them all the benefits of the SSD.

As for building/paying, chuck this in your basket, and they'll build it for you. You might have to add a couple of bits yourself. They won't install heavy CPU coolers for instance, instead something were to break during shipping. You can pay via PayPal, but you'll get charged an extra 3%, the best way is by bank transfer (a lot of German stores online do this, perfectly safe, etc.).

Edit: You'll actually want to swap the CPU cooler for this one. The other one doesn't support socket 2011 CPUs.

Your right, I didn't think I would need such a big SSD when I only want to boot windows off it but I suppose I can get the bigger SSD. When I'm building it, will there be options to add things like DVD/blueray drives, and other components? Sorry I have never used the site before.

    Thanks.

PC Components -> Drives -> Int/ext -> DVD-RW. I dunno about you, but I virtually never use a DVD drive any more. Windows can easily be installed via USB, and almost anything else can be downloaded.

Just with gaming if you needed a DVD/blueray drive to play them, that's where I would be stuck.
Speaking of which I have an external dvd/bluray drive that i plug in via USB so I could do without that drive in the pc and spend it towards performance.

most games come as downloads now, its much less hassle than it sounds. i never want to bother with an optical drive again if i can help it
