Anyone here buy KingStar tyres?

I'm having trouble getting conti's for my car, but was offered some kingstar tyres, which are supposed to be the budget version of Hankooks. I thought hankooks are a budget tyre, so would the kingstar be total sh*te? They are for a toyota aygo so don't need a performance tyre but want something that gives good grip in the wet. I have to wait a few days to get the conti's as they have to be ordered. Advance told me they only had about six of them in stock across all branches!

We sell them as our budget option in certain sizes. They are a step up from the real budget basement shíte such as Wanli, Triangle etc. but they aren't anything special. They certainly wouldn't compare too well with a tyre from their parent company Hankook let alone a premium brand tyre.

We had a full set of them here once.

    Absolute crap.

    Avoid

You get what you pay for when it comes to tyres. They're the only thing between you and the road so don't skimp. A lot of the cheap stuff for sale at the moment aren't nicknamed "ditch finders" for nothing.

Thanks for the feedback lads. I considered them as they were in stock so I wouldn't have to wait for tyres to be ordered, but I had my doubts, and what you have said confirms them.

    I'll order the contis.:)

My wife has a set of Kingstars on her Fabia .I can't say that I've noticed a problem with them.

For most people they don't get the opportunity to test how good or bad their tyres are. Most tyres bar the really cheap plastic ones will perform adequately in normal driving conditions. However tyres show their true colours when they are needed the most such as heavy braking in wet conditions, scrambling for grip when cornering or having to make a sudden change in direction to avoid something.

Just had a couple of these fitted recently, no problems with them so far, they seem ok in the wet.

I'm doing 1000km per week at the moment so I'm going to stick with the continentals for peace of mind.:)

You could change the size of the tyres too if you're doing all 4. the standard ones are a bit weedy I think (155/65r14?)

Plenty of tread left on the front two, so only need the back two replaced.
