    Hi,

I have been unemployed and on Job Seeker's Allowance for 10 months now. I have been getting only occasional days work (as a teacher), however I just got 2 week's work which started today.

Today I also got a letter from the Social Welfare office with an appointment for Tuesday at 9:30. I really do not want to jeopardise my work in the school by missing part of that day's work on Tuesday - they would offer it to someone else instead :(.

Do you think the Social Welfare office would accept if I went down on Monday afternoon to them and explained, in writing, that I cannot attend on Tuesday? Or would they just cut off my JSA?

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you.

If you have informed SWO of this then no problem, just ring them and they will give you a later appointment when your available.

Ok, thanks that's reassuring. It would be madness to have to turn down work just to go it!

I presume they know you have been subbing so all you have to do it put a letter in their letter box and let them know you have 2 weeks work and are unable to attend this meeting but can meet on a rescheduled date... be sure and address the letter to the person who sent out the letter if a name is available.
