Window sills.

I will be putting in three new windows soon. The concrete sills (outside) are very old with multiple coats of various types of paint.
Would it be an easy job to have the sills replaced at this time. Is that something the window fitters would do. Would it add a lot extra to the overall cost.
    Any info on this please.
    Thanks

Window fitters will not touch them.Get a local builder to change them before the new windows are fitted.

If they are very old it might be worth stripping the the paint as they maybe natural stone. Replacing the window cills will mean breaking the outside plaster work to take out the old cill. After the new cill is installed the plasterwork will have to be patched up:( and that is what it will always look like a patch around the cill. It maybe a better option to strip the paint off the cills and repaint.

Can window cills be replaced without taking out the window?

Yes they can the amount of work depends on whether you want to put in ready made cills or make up the cills in place.

I think I will have a go at stripping off old paint first and see what lies beneath.

    Thanks for the help.
