I need to see the reviews, but they look very good for the price.

If you want the 53, it's best to buy it in £. But the 50 works out better to buy in €. Unless you can get it at USD via someone. (The current exchange rate in brackets).

    ARCHOS 53 Platinum: 249.99€ / £ 199.99 (235€) / $ 249.99 (192€)
    ARCHOS 50 Platinum: 199.99€ / £ 179.99 (210€) / $ 219.99 (169€)
    ARCHOS 35 Carbon: 79.99€ / £ 79.99 (94€) / $ 99.99 (77€)

The 53 is a massive phone though. It's 154x78 - massively bigger than my existing old HTC Desire HD (123x68) which I thought was large at the time.

The only issue I can see is the relatively low resolution, compared to the Note 2. Compared to my ArcS though, it's just fine.
The attraction for me is the vanilla Android install, and the fact that I will be able to buy one with ease while I still can't easily but a Nexus 4 despite Google being based here!

Yeah - If the hands on reviews are ok, I'd seriously consider one. I don't think the screen resolution will stop me as my existing phone (4.25 inch diagonal screen) is ok for me now and these are better. The 53 has a much bigger capacity battery 2800 mAh compared with the 50 at 2000 mAh which is kinda pushing me to the 53 instead of the 50....

Their facebook page has a number of comments about launch dates slipping so we'll just have to wait...

A couple of my friends have the Note 2 and it seems a really nice phone, plus I love the size as I spend more time browsing and using fora than texting or phoning folk.
The battery life sounds great, the ArcS has a suck ass battery, needing to be charged often twice a day.
There seems to be some flak for the Carbon phone, regarding the pitiful rear VGA camera, but then it's a Smart phone priced at the disposable end of the pricing spectrum, so what do they expect??
Anywho, I'm feeling more and more positive about a phone I can buy straight out, for less than the price I'd be expected to pay as a downpayment on an S4, I'll save a fortune on a Sim only plan and can change the phone whenever I damn well please.
Plus, with a standard Android install I should get updates quicker too, no bloatware to slow everything down either.
    Win win I say.
