Can anyone tell me if an employee is out on suspension pending a disciplinary decision, and the decision is made to dismiss the employee, will the employee be informed of this outcome by a letter posted to their address or will they be brought back in to a meeting and told face to face?

Depends on the company's procedures. There are certain rules that do have to be followed (right to appeal, right to a witness etc), but once they're observed, it's up to the company.
