If I was to bring just one or two ounces of pure (.999) gold or platinum into Ireland from Canada, would I have to pay duty or tax at customs?

I asked on the Tax forum but didn't get a response. Same with customs, no reply to my email!

I have seen various sources online for mention that pure gold (.999) is VAT exempt, while silver does have VAT.

Also, there I cannot find any mention of platinum.
