Tell Revenue that you've moved to the mate's place, and get them to post you a balancing statement or something. Voila, proof of address. (don't forget to change your address with Revenue back to your homeplace or your new address afterwards.)

As far as I can remember, I didn't have to bring proof of address for my meeting. I rang Jobcentre and booked appt, they sent letter to house to confirm so I brought that with me just in case. Brought all the info that was needed with me and about a week later they posted a letter to my address with my NI number. So maybe they don't need to check your address cos they will be sending all the correspondence to it. Can't see anything either about having to bring proof of address with you online. Have a look at below link anyway and see what they need. It will say it in the letter you get, but no harm knowing what you need to bring over with you!

    Hi

I recently moved to Dumfries in Scotland from Dublin and I had my NINO interview on Tuesday just gone. Does anyone know how long it will take for me to get my number in the post? I've been working here for the last 3 weeks and I am in desperate need of getting paid!!
