    hi all

i got an iphone off a relative who didnt like it
    their company was then "NAMA-ed"

the phone has an unpaid bill on it which i assume will never be paid
will this phone be locked forever?
i'm on a 30-day sim only with the locked network for quite a while

    thanks

You could buy an unlock code, but I dont think the carrier will ever unlock it. If it was bought on PAYG you could then claim your 30day payments against the €130 threshold but as its a contract phone they would have got a big discount and the network will want that paid off(and your relative is an ass if he doesnt).

Another problem you might have is that the company blacklist the phone as the bill are not paid. Is it only 1 bill that was unpaid?

    thanks

yeah, id imagine its a balance from when the co. was
taken over by nama, i assume they wont pay it,

i have done a year of 30day with the carrier
will I not build up "brownie points" through my own use

    cheers

No the phone is probably tight to a contract with that company that's now in NAMA, if the contract is not over they will blacklist the iphone for no payment. Not sure what will happen if the contract was over but the last bill wasn't paid.
