Battery on key fob for vw passat

The key fob to lock and unlock has been getting worse over the last few months, I really have to be right beside the car for it to work, I have heard that these batteries are quite expensive and that u have to go to main dealer, any other solutions?? Thanks!

You could buy a battery on eBay and fit it yourself.

You need a CR2032 battery. Readily available in any motor factors and even normal shops. They are easy to fit, you will find guides online. If you don't want to do it yourself I'm sure an independent garage would help you out and be cheaper than the dealer.
