Just wondering if I have a packet delivered by an post that needs duty paid, but I'm not at home when the postman calls, will he still leave the package along with a bill for the duty, or what happens?

    Thanks

Not even. I've been charged customs for an item before and it just seemed to be the normal sorry we missed you note. Went to my normal PO to collect and they ran around for 5 minutes looking for the parcel before realising that the note was for a different PO. Ended up having to travel a further 10 miles to pick the parcel up from the closest PO that deals with customs charges. Spent a feckin fortune on the taxi that day.

...........and check the amount carefully when you get home. I've been ripped off by crazy customs duties which I successfully appealed to the office in Portlaoise.Generally try and use USPS from the 'States as some items seem to slip through without duty.
