hey, ever since I had my 02 Passat tdi, every morning when I start it up and go to pull away , the car has absoloutly no power in it for the first maybe 8 seconds of driving then it kicks in, anyone know what might be causing this to happen?

Do you stay in first? Or does switching into 2nd gear help? Excessive smoke from exhaust?
Check for fault codes. Could be the ecu acting up.

I stay in first and theres no smoke, could it possibly be a loose intercooler pipe?

eh, does it only happen in the morning/cold?

after that how does it drive?

    how does it idle?

drives perfectly, idles perfectly and only happens in the morning on a cold start!

hhmm does it not take a rev or reves but goes nowhere?

any fault codes? (heaterlight staying on or flashing)?

nope , no fault codes and nothing out of the ordinary, has me stumped!

have you got a fault code reader with live data?
could be CTS, there knownd for giving bother, usualy gives a bad idle or that.

    but its worth a look.

cheaper than an ECU anyway..... :L

Hi Op do you just start and drive straight away ?

This is something a lot of people do and it doesn't give the engine enough time to heat and pump the oil around the engine components.

Diesels & petrol engines should be let warm up for at least 2 mins before drive and of course in very cold weather a little bit extra.
