Today I had to jump start the car brought it for a drive to see if it would charge the battery but when I got back and turned of the car and tried again the battery was dead again.

should I bring it to the local garage and ask them the charge it over night?

Sorry to break it to you but chargerering isn't a real word.

Also you need to get your battery and alternator checked.

Depends on how long you drove the car for. A nip down to the shops won't be enough to charge it up again. If it was on its way out before this could have killed it.
Is it relatively new? How long did you drive for?

    is it petrol or deisel?

to be honest Quazzie is right.

bring it to your local garage and they will check your battery and your charging rate.

Half an hour isn't long enough to chargerer it. Drive it for two hoursers and then see.

May i ask of your experiance? Two hours?

Its not just how long you drive for, its also how you drive it. a good 20 - 30 min spin at a high rev (2800 - 3100 rpm) should be suficiant.

However, depending on the state of your battery you could drive from belfast to cork and it still may not start tomorow.

some batterys go dead and either wont take a charge or wont hold a charge.

If you have a low or no charging rate, again, it still wont do any good.

Trust me, bring your car to a garage, it wont cost that much.. youl save it on petrol, especilly if your going to go for 2 hour long drives :/

With the current price of fuel you would be best buying a charger and charging overnight rather than doing a 2 hour drive.

If the battery is around 5 years old buy a new one, time to replace.

Bought it to the garage but I was told 1999 was written on the battery.

60 euro for a new one
