    Hi Folks,

Looking for some informed opinions on whether it is best to insulate a shed. It will be used for as a home gym. 9" Cavity blocks construction.
I've been told to insulate and not to insulate. What do you think is best and why?

Thanks for reading and your comments in advance.

    Hey Bull76
On the point of fitting insulation, you will end up with a room thats warm and comfortable, clean lines,(what are dimensions) it could then also be used for other reasons like maybe, garden room, study, hideaway with a glass of wine, poker game with friends:) . it will cost you a few quid to insulate it, and if there are doors and windows prob preferable to have those double glazed to retain heat.

no insulation. if its only use is going to be for gym work, do you need to bother insulating as you ll be warming up pretty quick i imagine whilst training, 9 inch cavity work, its a structurally sound building. maybe just the ceiling could be done if there is timber joists,

if its only for training i d prob not put that detail in,
    Hope this helps
    GL

Your answer lies in what you will use it for, if a gym i would say insulate (and ventilate) as it will make it a more comfortable surrounding. You can insulate fairly cheaply with insulated boards fixed direct to the blocks

The lads have covered all the bases and given good advice.

I Insulated a Garage/Shed which was built with 9 inch cavity blocks 2 years ago. The difference is unbelievable. Before it was done you couldn't stay more than a few Minutes in the Garage during the Winter. Now you could stay there all evening.
I also insulated the Roof which was constructed of 9 inch Rafters with 400mm Fiberglass type of Insulation.

The Son has now laid claim to it as his new den.

Insulating it is a once off expense that you will benefit from for many years to come.
