How long should i be waiting before getting my tax disc in the post? I changed car recently, and got the rf100 form from garage, they had the details filled out on their side of things, i filled out my parts and signed the relevant sections and sent it off by post on monday 8th April to Dept of Transport, Shannon. Today is the 16th April and no sign of it. The money for the tax disc hasnt gone out of my account either. I dont want to drive the car out on the road without tax disc.Just wondering does it take this long to receive tax disc?

    Thanks

I spoke to Ballymun earlier and they only processed forms received on the 8th yesterday. Seems they've got a wee delay going on. I know that's not Shannon. Try calling and asking.

Just checked my account and the money has gone out today. I assume my disc its on its way to me now. I will give it another 2-3 days before ringing them.

    Hello,

A recent Journal.ie article states that motorists will now have to declare their car off the road before their tax runs out.

Last January, I went to the Garda station to declare it off the road as I did not know how to do it. The officer told me that all I had to do was bring the form back to him when the car is ready to come back on to the road.

I am studying in the UK with the car back home so I wanted to save tax money. It is looking like the wagon will be back on the road in June-ish.

Would anybody know if I have to go back home ASAP or get someone on my behalf to pop into the station and declare the car off the road now as per new guidelines or will their be a retrospective thing going on as the old and new laws overlap so to speak. I have all the proof I need to show I am living away such as university letters etc.

Starting the wagon will be a lovely plume of smoke and raw 1.9TDI tracker power :P It is due a service so the first thing I do is an oil and filter change with some other bits and bobs.

I can not wait to get back driving again.

    Thanks all,
    bbk

    Muchas thankas.

    EDIT:

I have just realised that I did not start a new thread for this. My bad, It seems I have forgotten how the internet works in my absence.
