We are going on our first family holiday this August to france . It will be myself , Hubbie and our daughter who will be 15 months old . Any advice on good holiday destinations ? Don't want to do the camping / campervan thing . Would be great to stay in an apartment / resort somewhere in France and to get some sun! Any advice would be greatly appreciated !!

Consider campsites. Generally they have mobile homes, some with air con, on site restaurants, shops & entertainment and can provide social outlets for both parents & child without having to go too far in a car in the heat.

Having said that, they can also be teen oriented and noisy!

My preference though would be a villa or even an apartment with a pool. Great for cooling everyone down and tiring out little ones. (It's the law for pools to be alarmed or fenced off in France.)

Have you considered a location? The south can be very hot, which I like but it may be too much for your daughter. Weather further north or even on some of the Atlantic coasts can be mixed.

Have a look at the area around Cap d'Agde, Beziers, Marseillan if you're interested in the south.

Thanks so much. Yeah , I love the idea of an apartment with pool. We were thinking that the south might be very far to travel as we are getting the ferry to Brittany . Then the west might be very cool as you mentioned . Maybe I need to look half way down the country . I will take a look at those locations you mentioned and it might give us some ideas , thanks again !

i'd recommend camping in Brittany , ideal for kids and very economical .
