PC Problems

I'll start out with explain what happens in a bit of details:
Everything is plugged in perfectly. Just the way it has been for the past year or two. When I hit the power button, everything lights up/spins and shows signs of life. However, that's as far as it gets! Nothing is responsive on the monitors. Just black. No BIOS, no change of colours, nothing. In fact, my DVI connection says no source when switched on. Everything goes on spinning, with no changes at all. No beeps from MB. Normally, just as the PC starts up, my CPU cooler will hit 100% and sound awfully loud, almost indicating that it's starting up, however, it no longer does this, and just remains spinning at a slow % - Something I've never seen it do before.

Today, I tried to boot up InDesign for a bit of work. I got an odd little error, that I began to research, and found 3-4 websites, including an official Adobe forum linking to the same resolve. This article told me to run command Promt, and type in a command (Which I have forgotten, but it was some sort of hard drive scan)
I began the scan on the hard drive that I had InDesign on, and left it to do it's thing. I came back, to find my PC frozen. So I waited for a bit, while researching to see if it was normal. Eventually, it un-froze and more a less told me the scan failed - Thinking nothing of it, I restarted the system, and said I'd give it another go. However, when I restarted the system, it was oddly slow to get to the BIOS screen. (Windows is on a different HDD then InDesign, so that was odd) It did get there after a min or so, and then restarted itself. This time, it didn't come up with my BIOS screen at all.

I restarted the system a few times (Power button and restart button no longer worked on the case after powering up btw) but nothing happened. Just the same unresponsiveness on my monitors.
I began to troubleshoot the system. I couldn't view any source of video when I removed my GPU, as the mb doesn't have onboard graphics. However, the CPU Coolers vol. suggested nothing had helped. I removed everything, testing the system with different ram, trying no HDD's at all, making sure connectors are plugged in perfectly, but nothing changed.
I research a little online, and most answers suggested that I remove the BIOS battery for a while, and then reboot the system. This seemed to solve other problems that were the same, so I gave it a go. Nothing happened. Same as before.

I'm fresh out of ideas on this one! Nothing seems to be working! I've taken everyone out, and more a less rebuild the system, re-connected everything, and even changed the likes of the SATA connection ports, just in case that was the problem. Nothing has even suggested that it has helped the problem. Can anyone shine some light on this? I do quite a bit of work on this system, so not only does it have lots of important programs, but lots of important files too! It's hugely important to me that I get it back up and running ASAP! I currently have no money to re-build the system, in fact, I've no money to even replace a broken or damaged part :(

    Specs are:
    Radeon HD 6850 - 1GB
    AMD Phenom II X4 840 - 3.2GHz
    Cooler Master Hyper TX3
    Corsair XMS3 - 2 x 2GB + 2 x 2GB G-Skill
    MSI 870U-G55
    Advance MPT-6500 PC Power Unit - 600Watt
AEROCOOL Strike X PC Tower Case
Samsung SpinPoint F3 - 1TB (InDesign Installed here)
    Seagate Barracude - 80GB (Windows 7 64bit installed here)

I could be wrong but my money is on Advance MPT-6500 being the problem.

Cheap power supplies are cheap for a reason. How old is it?

As old as the system itself, so around 1 year - 1.5 years? Would it really just crap out all of a sudden, like it has done?

You are still getting power to fans ect? Sudden psu failures tend to be a pop with smoke and a totally dead psu. A failing psu can have system freeze ups, shut downs, slow boots ect before it fails completely.

It's impossible to be 100% without using another psu to test it.

I gave it one last shot today, and for some reason, it's back working! No idea why it's working again, I didn't touch it over night! Only thing seems to be Windows needs to be repaired, possibly after the un-expected shut-down, but all important files are safe! Thank god!
I've run a two hour 100% stress test on the system, just to see if anything was going to give way, and nothing was amiss..Very strange!
I think I'll replace the PSU at the end of the month, just incase. Cheers for the help BloodBath!
