Some tablets have a battery saving feature which disconnects wifi when the screen is turned off, but it should reconnect automatically when you turn the screen on.

What version of android? What tablet is it? Does the wifi icon stay on all the time? Is it a distance thing from the router?

Samsung GT P5110 Android 4.1.1 Wifi icon stays on. its deffo not a distance thing from router because it was working fine in diff locations. i seem to lose internet frequently. Ive just turned the router off and on again and that seems to have resolved the problem and am now reconnected. i am just wondering why it keeps happening. thanks emily

Go into Settings > WiFi, click the menu key, and hit Advanced. In that menu, see if your WiFi is set to always be on ("Keep WiFi on during sleep").

Who is your broadband supplier and what router are you using? The problem is more likely to be at that end

Thanks - i've done that already but the options i get in advanced options are

Proxy settings -- which is set at NONE (other option is Manual) IP settings set at DHCP (other option is Static).

at least now i know how to sort it, I didnt when i started the thread. it shouldnt be disconnecting i dont think though.

    thanks a milll
