Anyone else heard of this fella? First I read of it was on p.ie

    from Irish Star
A SHOCKING documentary by TG4 has provoked claims that the so-called “Irish Jimmy Savile” Domhnall O Lubhlai could have abused scores of victims over two decades.

Fresh allegations have surfaced since the recent death of O Lubhlai, who faced 56 charges of sex abuse against 11 children in 2000.

O Lubhlai, who died last month at home in Mullingar, Co Westmeath, taught Irish in the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s in Donegal and Dublin and was known at the time as “Donal Lovely”.

Family of some of his alleged victims now estimate he could have abused up to 100 boys while he was an Irish and religion teacher between 1971 and 1991.

TG4 investigator Sorcha Ni Mhonachain’s second film last night heard from one of O Lubhlai’s students Liam O Maoladha about the allegations.

O Maoladha looked traumatised as he revealed he lives with a heavy regret for not talking to gardai.

He said: “I do not know why I didn’t. I’m not proud of that.” O Maoladha did speak in 1998 with Dublin gardai as they built a case against O Lubhlai with five men who testified that they were abused at his language summer camps. The trial collapsed.

O Lubhlai was the founder of one of Ireland’s largest Irish colleges, Colaiste na bhFiann, and was the presenter of an RTE show.

Allegations first surfaced in 1991 when he told gardai he was being blackmailed.

With all due respect to TG4, its not exactly high profile media for most people
so this story seems to have little traction so far.

It's not exactly a new story...probably why there's little talk about it.

There were stories connected to him back in the 90's, but nothing came of them since he had connections.
He was forced away from teaching and the Irish colleges and that was pretty much it.

But where do you go to, my Lubhlaí?
When you're not alone in your bed?
Tell me of boys that surround you
I want to look inside your head, yes I do.

Well what can be said about him , I was in clondalkin tech in the late 70s and he was a mad man. I know back then things were different and teachers and principles used canes ,fists and feet in dealing with troublesome children. But this man because of his stature in the Irish speaking community would have got away with more. A girl being marched around the school yard being called a
tramp and prostitute because she dared speak english in his class. This girl was 12 or 13 at the time. Whole classes being excused from learning Irish because we were speaking English in front of him.
His class was my homework class for 3 years he just sat in front of us and bullied us for all those years. There are a lot of people who loved this man and will say he did a lot for Irish speakers and the gealteacht but you can be sure they came from the right side of the social divide. They say never speak ill of the dead but you can be sure that there are a lot of people still living with the face of hatred still waking them in there sleep at night.

I detest the Orish attitude that once dead that dictates 'sure Weren't they a great person altogether' and nobody dares say anything

I say no - get the dancing clogs out, form an orderly line and start dancing on the fckers grave....

In fact lets have them exhumed and moved to the nearest municipal dump because that's where they most likly belong - with all the other refuse.

I don't see the point in dancing on anyone's grave. It's hardly going to hurt them and the idea of it just seems a bit stupid to me.

    What about break dancing?

Or a good ole rap, a fine old honest to goodness shillelagh of a rap that would set the hair of your auld potato shtanding on end?
