I have just bought a 08 jetta tdi se and the doors are locking automatically when i take the keys out, I only have one key so i dont fancy having it locked into the car! Any ideas on how i can cancel this? Also, where could i get a new key?

Most locksmiths or a Vw garage could cut you a key.

OP, does you car have a multifunction display? You could check the menus to see if there's an option to disable that feature.

I had an 07 Golf GT and there were options to lock the doors when you reached a certain speed, open only the drivers door when the remote was pressed (to stop a potential hijacker jumping into the car via the passenger side), leave the lights on ('coming home' feature) for 30 seconds when you locked the car and so on.

The locking thing could be a setting or it could be a fault. You need to get it on a diagnostic computer to find out.

    Where are you located?

Yeah it has a m/f display, no idea how to control it though
