How to do cut slate

Hi, just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. I've seen slate crafts over the years and have bought many. I have tried to replicate some of the designs/ideas of clocks, mirrors recently with a few spare slates etc but have had very poor results. I cant seem to cut the slate right at all.
I am just wondering what kind of tools and slate should I be using to cut slate right. I want to put ogham writing onto slate as a pet project.
Rather than sandblasting an etching I want to cut grooves/slices into the slate. something similar to this 14-home.jpg. Any advise greatly appreciated

If you want a clean cut you can rent a tile saw or you could use a jigsaw with a carbide grit blade, for a rougher cut you can use an angle grinder with a stone disc or even a snips.

To cut the grooves I'd say a dremel or one of the cheeper makes would do the job, in the box you should get small cutting discs and diamond tip engraving bits if you wanted to do writing.
