Possible clutch gone?

    Hey looking for some advice. Over the space of a few days my clutch went from normal to the car being undriveable. when i was pressing down on the clutch there would be a vibration and then over time it would get quite difficult to push down then one day bang it went to the floor and no joy of it coming back up.

    So i rooted around and found the clutch slave cylinder was broke underneath so i changed this over and bleed it out still no joy still the same thing is happening it goes straight to the floor. am i right in thinking the clutch is gone or what other possible causes could it be? car is a Vw 1.4 golf.
    Thanks:mad::)

    Clutch is most likely gone. What year/model Golf is it?

    02 1.4 its the basic model.what kind of mulla would a new clutch for it cost ya think? could the old one be fixed? its probably not even worth getting fixed i had taught it but when i saw the cylinder was broke i hoped it might be a simply fix.

    It is probably the centre punched out of the metal plate that operates the pressure plate. Those Golfs have an unusual clutch setup.

    About €350 fitted for a new clutch.

    I'm no mechanic but it sounds like something that was up with my car before, I'd press the clutch and it would stay there but if I kept pumping it with my foot it would come back up. The problem was with the clutch cable which i think is not as bad as the clutch itself going. Mightn't be it but I thought it was worth mentioning. It only happened a few times and seemed to fix itself so I don't know if it would be expensive to repair. My car isn't a golf by the way so this might not be relevant at all but no harm throwing it out there.
