i don't have to pay any fee for hiring the room for our civil ceremony. That is one of the most expensive quotes I have heard so far. I think that hotel is taking the Michael.

Are you having a food / meal after the ceremony? If you are and assuming it for more than 40 people, €500 is a ridiculous price, free would be the norm.

Depends, are you using the room and then leaving, or having food there too?

If it's just ceremomy and then leaving, I'd say there is a lot of effort involved in setting up a room for a ceremony with seating, and a good bit of cleanup later. It's reasonable in that case.

If there is food happening, it's expensive.

we paid 400 for our ceremony set-up plus hired a guy to do the PA system. We'd the wedding meal at hotel after. We had it outdoors though for 110 people.

I reckon that seems really steep I would defiantly negotiate that down...
